Solitaire Battle v0.8.5 - Boss Battles


Happy Halloween! Here's the latest update to Solitaire Battle!

This update was mostly an expansion on the boss battles in the game, but plenty of other stuff got added and changed too.

I've still got a few bosses to add that will likely appear in the next update, after which I plan to start expanding on the skills, artifacts, and weapons.

Bosses:

  • Added the Ghost boss
    • It slowly applies stacking damage from 'Doom' status that will overwhelm you if you don't remove it.
  • Added the Chicken boss
    • Its attack applies 'Bleed' status, then it fills the board with cards that prevent you from curing your bleeding.
  • Added the Dragon boss
    • It gets stronger and stronger with each attack, and the only way to weaken it is to go on a long chain of picking up cards.
  • Added the Wendigo boss
    • If you don't attack it every turn it becomes able to easily do multiple consecutive attacks.
  • Added the Vampire boss
    • It applies 'Bleed' status, then heals until you pick up a card to cure the effect.
  • Added the Oni boss
    • It gets more powerful each time it is hit, but loses that power when you hit it several times in one turn.
  • Added the Turtle boss
    • It gains 'Shield' status once per turn on picking up a card, drawing a card lowers the status.
  • Added the Jack O' Lantern boss
    • It gets stronger while you are in 'Overlimit' status.
  • Nerfed the Ogre boss
    • Adds +5 Limit to itself after attacking.
    • Gains +33% STR on attacking (down from 50%).
  • Changed the Lich boss
    • Now takes damage any time the opponent heals.
    • Adds a 'Heal' card instead of a 'Phylactery' card.

Equipment:

  • All weapons now have different cooldown conditions that no longer limit their ability to activate multiple times each turn (as long as you can keep your Limit low!).
  • Further simplified descriptions. Now detailed descriptions (such as DMG formulae) are visible on right click.
  • 'Knock' buffed
    • Now applies on card pickup instead of suit match, and gains SP charge on limit lowering.
  • 'Dagger' and 'Fist' nerfed
    • These weapons no long apply secondary effects (which were gaining free draws and lowering Limit, respectively).
  • 'R-Battery' nerfed
    • Charges 0.25 less draw SP on Limit lowering per turn.
  • 'Patience' nerfed
    • It's effect now caps the max amount of added Suitless status at the number of held gray skills.
  • 'Flow' changed
    • Now has an SP charge of 6/5/4 at C/B/A rank instead of lowering 1/2/3 Limit when used.
  • Held equipment now has a convenient stripe indicating its rarity color while in the shop.
  • Weapons have their own separate text effect to indicate gained/lowered DMG.

Other:

  • Characters speak on activating their equipment instead of when picking up 5 or 10 cards.
  • The tutorial is now shorter (in both text amount and number of prompts) and simpler.
  • Skills fade away when the board is not set up instead of sliding onscreen/offscreen.
  • The pause button fades away completely after a period of inactivity.
  • Certain characters and bosses have a chance of speaking unique dialogue on battle start depending on their opponents.
